As mentioned in a previous post<\/a>, some seasons are particularly rich in events in many subject areas: in addition to the May-June period, so-called “European weeks<\/strong>” and “European days<\/strong>” are mainly concentrated during ‘autumn.<\/p>\n\n

If the first yellow leaves make you want to set out again for new discoveries and perhaps a new trip, check out this post: there are European weeks<\/strong> in all areas and events in many cities!<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Some “Europeanweeks<\/strong>” and “European days<\/strong>” are organized directly by EU institutions and have been a benchmark in their field for years; others are more recent and organized in partnership by other actors.<\/p>\n\n

In all cases, these are unique opportunities for meeting, networking, learning about successful projects and ideas, and learning more about progress in Europe in the relevant thematic area.<\/p>\n\n

European Mobility Week<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

September 16-22, 2019<\/p>\n\n

An event dedicated to city governments, NGOs, businesses and schools committed to improving mobility systems in our cities through sustainable choices, in which participants recount and propose the technical and organizational solutions they have experimented with. The Week includes initiatives in various European countries<\/a> (includingItaly<\/a>) and two European Awards, for Mobility<\/a> and for Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

European Sports Week<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

September 23-30, 2019<\/p>\n\n

“Every year, from September 23 to 30, millions of sports professionals, enthusiasts, experts and associations from all over Europe-and beyond-join together to take part in one of the world’s biggest sports initiatives: the European Week of Sport.” That’s the opening line on the event page, which includes parallel events throughout Europe<\/a> and more official meeting times (with award<\/a> ceremonies) at the event’s main European venues.<\/p>\n\n

European Research and Innovation Days.<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

September 24-26, 2019<\/p>\n\n

Le European Research and Innovation Days.<\/strong> are proposed as a unique opportunity for debate and analysis of common solutions to promote this strategic area for Europe and its citizens: policies, strategies, experiences, funding and investment opportunities, visibility and public awareness, but also joint mobilization to solve societal challenges.<\/p>\n\n

European Week of Action for Girls.<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

October 8-12, 2019<\/p>\n\n

This Week is celebrated each year to correspond with the date ofOct. 11<\/strong>, \n International Day of the Girl Child<\/em>\n<\/strong>. Promotes EU action in defense of girls’ rights and gender equality through moments of dialogue with EU institutions and a series of activities (including fun) to inform, raise awareness, mobilize and engage partners and young leaders.<\/p>\n\n

European Week of Regions and Cities<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

October 7-10, 2019<\/p>\n\n

Each year during this week, regions and cities promote their capacity to create growth, jobs, economic cohesion and social development, demonstrating with data and experiences the importance of the local and regional level (closest to the citizens) in implementing, in practice, policies and governance. European Vocational Skills Week<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

October 14-18, 2019<\/p>\n\n

This European Week<\/strong> is a unique opportunity for young students, teachers and professionals from different sectors of vocational education to tell their experience and promote their skills in Europe. The success stories<\/a> are really interesting! Events organized in different European countries<\/a>, achievements of previous editions<\/a> and nominees for awards<\/a> can be viewed on the site.<\/p>\n\n

European Week for Safety and Health at Work<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

October 21-25, 2019<\/p>\n\n

This Week, promoted by the dedicated European Agency<\/a>, identifies a central theme each year around which awareness-raising actions are promoted throughout Europe concerning the active and participatory management of safety and health in the workplace. The site presents the annual theme<\/a> in depth , offers specific outreach materials<\/a> and reports on events<\/a> organized nationwide.<\/p>\n\n

European Week for Waste Reduction<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

November 16-24, 2019<\/p>\n\n

This Week promotes actions to raise awareness of sustainableresource use<\/strong> and sustainable waste management, based on the principles<\/a> of the circular economy (reduce, reuse and recycle). It involves public authorities, businesses, civil society and citizens in many actions, collected in a large database<\/a> and organized in all European countries.
